The Race

Intensely focused, optimistic and hopeful,
I'm ready to push, the throttle to the full,
Bursting with energy, ready for the long haul,
I need to look beyond distractions, and fixate on the goal.

I've come a long way, its been a while,
I can cover a few more miles, all with a smile,
Conserving energy, moving steadily towards the aim,
I need to pace myself, if I have to win this game.

My patience is running thin, its the last mile,
How can I be falling behind, that's not my style,
Giving it all I've got, grabbing victory by its head,
I need to kill the competition, second place is for the dead.

Starting is fun and easy, finishing a necessary chore,
Its only in the middles, I find myself, displaying my golden core.

A Room For Art

I observe, I experiment,
About the world -  that's but an accident.
Of my trajectory, I'm starting to get a hang,
How I'm set in motion, since the Big Bang.

I read The Book, I have faith,
God created the world, on the day that was eighth.
Of my destiny in life, I 'm starting to seek God's grace,
For on the day of the Judgement, I'll be with Him face to face.

I ponder the mysteries, I think deep,
I take the world as a given- in which I'm thrown knee-deep.
Of my choices in life, I'm doomed to be free,
Asking the perennial question- to be or not to be.

I play, I create, a world that is beautiful and great,
I weave random beads into an elegant strand, and, slowly, master my fate.

My Creed

Rise at 6, sleep at 8,
Create some art, defeat your fate.
14 lines long, get the meter right,
Appease Apollo, the god of blight.

Rise when you like, or don't sleep at all,
Dance with ecstasy, or indulge in a brawl.
Let emotions overpower, let muses be your guide,
Succumb to the Dionysian chaos, take everything in your stride.

The world is full of order, for every act there is a cause,
Let the society sanction what is good, let there be proper laws.
The world is chaotic and absurd- and still all is preordained,
Let my instincts make me prosper, even as my passions leave me drained.

Two wolves live inside me, one Dionysian, the other Apollo's breed,
Whom to feed is a tricky question, isn't impartiality my creed?

One Time Act

One day I'll paint a masterpiece, I'm honing my skill,
Once I know how to draw, I'll go all in for the kill.
When time demands, and stakes are high, I'll give it all I've got,
Paint 'The last leaf' on the wall, and become a demigod.

One day I'll sing a song so sweet, even sirens will get lured,
Today let me just play with notes, let my voice get inured.
Tomorrow when she pines for red, who to my heart is close,
I'll let the thorn pierce deep and fine, and sing like 'The nightingale and the rose'.

One day I''ll draw a sketch so fine, right now let me doodle and play,
Pencil, pen or sand I can use, even charcoal I may,
But you have to see it as children do, when I reveal it don't cry or wince
The sheep that ate the grass and left, just like in "The little prince'.

Genius is not a one time act,  you have to live it every day,
The results may be poetic or prosaic- you have to create come what may.
